The RANO Sea Salt Basin is a strikingly engineered structure designed for the sustainable harvesting of sea salt. This round basin, carved into the coastal landscape, combines traditional salt-making techniques with modern efficiency. Measuring approximately 20 feet in diameter, the basin is encircled by natural stone walls that rise to about three feet, creating a picturesque boundary against the backdrop of the ocean.
Seawater is drawn into the basin through a small channel that connects to the shoreline. The basin's base is coated with a smooth layer of compacted clay to ensure minimal water seepage. Over time, sunlight and wind work together to evaporate the seawater, leaving behind crystalline layers of pure sea salt.
